Tragedy at The Bend: Motorsport Community Mourns the Loss of Shane Mann

The motorsport community is in mourning following a tragic incident at The Bend Motorsport Park during the 2025 AirTouch 500 event in South Australia.


Motorsport Australia confirmed that a critical medical incident occurred in the paddock on Saturday. It was later reported that Shane Mann, 50, a much-loved competitor in the Aussie Racing Cars Championship, passed away despite the best efforts of medical teams on site


🏁 Event Impact

  • Aussie Racing Cars Race 2 was cancelled out of respect for Shane and his family.

  • Trans Am Series racing was delayed while officials and first responders managed the situation.

  • Today, a moving tribute was held at The Bend, with Shane’s #21 car leading a formation lap and the front row left empty in his honor

“Motorsport Australia advises that a critical medical incident has occurred in the paddock at the running of the 2025 AirTouch 500 at The Bend, South Australia. Motorsport Australia extends its condolences to the family and friends of the competitor, and to the officials and first responders at the scene.”
